We don’t always choose our situations. We can’t always control the outcomes. And we can’t always plan for what comes next.
But we can choose radical obedience right now.
What is God asking of you today?
Let me start by being honest…
This post has taken me almost four weeks to write. I’ve opened my computer more times than I can count and stared at a blank page. I knew the direction God was leading me. I had the title. But that was it.
And then it hit me, maybe the title was the problem.
Because a title is not what we’re meant to chase.
I’ve spent years wondering what my “overall calling” is. What’s the pinnacle? What’s the big assignment? What’s the thing that defines my time here on earth?
That kind of thinking can become paralyzing.
We get so wrapped up in trying to identify the destination that we miss the obedience required in the process. Our end-all, be-all is not a title or a position. It’s how obedient we were along the way.
When I began praying about this, my mind went straight to Esther. An ordinary Jewish girl who became queen. Not because she campaigned for it. Not because she had a plan. Not because it was her lifelong dream.
She was positioned there by God.
And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?
Esther 4:14b
And when the moment came, she was obedient.
Her story didn’t unfold overnight. It was a process of preparation, positioning, and courage. God opened the doors in His time. And through it all, He was aligning her steps.
That’s how He works.
God may open a door for you today and close one tomorrow. Not to confuse you, but to align you. Our job isn’t to understand every move. Our job is to trust His timing.
God can’t use us under our own rules and guidelines. He needs willing hearts and surrendered plans.
Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.
Colossians 3:23–24
Your calling starts at His feet.
And to follow that calling, you have to be willing to lay aside comfort, distractions, and even your ideal version of how things should look.
When God speaks, it’s our responsibility to respond with obedience.
It might be uncomfortable. It might stretch you. It might require courage you don’t feel ready for.
But if God has led you to it, He will guide you through it.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to Him,
and He will make your paths straight.
Proverbs 3:5–6
When we take one step toward God’s call, He meets us there, and often carries us farther than we ever imagined possible.
Sometimes fear and anxiety are the very things holding us back from saying yes. But the lies the enemy whispers are strategic. He wants nothing more than to derail God’s plan.
Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.
1 Peter 5:8
The enemy knows the power on the other side of our obedience.
There lies blessings. There is abundance. There is deeper strength and clearer purpose.
There, souls are saved. Chains are broken. Sickness is healed. The enemy is defeated. Victory is won.
If we are willing, we will see just how able our God truly is.
Esther saved her people from persecution because she was obedient.
She did not allow fear to overtake her. She did not question her assignment. She kept her focus on God. She trusted Him to lead the way.
So, stay at His feet.
Surrender your comfort and your control.
Be a willing vessel, ready to walk wherever obedience leads.
We are here to build the Kingdom. And God wants to use you, not because you’re perfect, but because you’re willing.
You matter in His plan.
And I’m so glad you’re here.
